File

Share files and other resources with your students by adding them to your Moodle course. Keep in mind that materials posted to Moodle courses must be used in accordance with the United States Copyright Act.

File Types:

You can add most types of files to your Moodle course.  Office documents (Word, PowerPoint, Excel Spreadsheets, etc) will download as an editable copy of the file to the student’s computer.  PDF files are typically uneditable.

Drag and drop method

  • Turn editing on
  • Drag a file from your computer
  • Drop it in the course section where you want the file to be added

Manual upload

  • Turn editing on
  • In the course section where you want the file to be added > Click Add an activity or resource
  • Under Resources > click the radio button next to File
  • click Add
  • Add a Name and a Description
  • Drag & Drop files from your computer to the Content window OR
  • In the Content window > Click in the Select files box
  • Click Browse…
  • Click on the name of the file from your computer > Click Open
  • Click Upload this file
  • Click Save and return to course

Select a file from a repository, including your Google Drive

  • Turn editing on
  • In the course section where you want the file to be added > Click Add an activity or resource
  • Under Resources > click the radio button next to File
  • click Add
  • Add a Name and a Description
  • In the Content window > Click in the Select files box
  • In the File picker window > Click the link to one of the file repositories in the left column
  • Click on the file in the File picker window
  • Click Save and return to course
